About Us at Ulladulla Endoscopy...Doctor Le & Doctor Hoang
At Ulladulla Endoscopy, we perform the endoscopy test (to look into the food pipe, stomach and small bowel) and colonoscopy test (to look into the large bowel).
Drs. Le and Hoang have been operating Ulladulla Endoscopy for 2 years now. In that time, the practice has gone through the formal accreditation process (with AGPAL) to ensure that it meets national standards.
In addition, Dr. Le has received formal recognition from the prestigious Gastro-Enterological Society of Australia for his training in Colonoscopy. He has also attained the Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice and recognition from the Joint Consultative Committee on Surgery.
We are very proud that Natalie Moore, our practice nurse, was the runner up in the 2007 Practice Nurse of the Year Award. Natalie has also recently passed the Australian Credentialling of Gastroenterology Nurses Examination.
We are happy that we can provide an important service to the local people. This means that patients do not have to drive to Sydney or Canberra for an Endoscopy or Colonoscopy.
Although a referral is not absolutely necessary because both Drs. Le and Hoang are also General Practioners, we do encourage patients to dicuss their problems with their doctors first.
We have people coming to see us from as far as Berry and Moruya because we provide a safe, efficient and high quality service.
We remove polyps or pre-cancer growths almost daily. Unfortunately, on average, we have been diagnosing 1 new bowel cancer every month, and one oesophageal cancer (in the food pipe) every 2-3 months, due to late presentation. We have also helped to diagnose other problems such as coeliac disease, peptic ulcers, and diverticular disease.
To help pick up on bowel cancer early, consult your doctor or Dr. Le/Hoang if you have any of the following:
- blood in your bowel motions or the toilet bowl.
- if you have had any changes in your toilet habits such as constipation or diarrhoea. lasting more than 2 weeks.
- if you have vague stomach pain
- if one or more of your close relatives have has bowel cancer
- if you have had bowel polyps (small pre-cancer growths) or bowel cancer
- if you have had inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease
